Tissue Salts for Colds and Flu

What are tissue (cell) salts?
Dr. Schuessler, a 19-th century German physician, developed the 12 tissue salts, also known as cell salts.

Tissue salts are 12 minerals available in each cell and tissue that are essential to body`s metabolism.Tissue salts are 12 minerals available in each cell and tissue that are essential to body`s metabolism. When these vital tissue salts are in the correct ratio or concentration, the body is healthy. As soon as the tissue salts ratio is disturbed, the proper cell functioning is impaired, resulting in illness. We should get tissue salts through our diet but due to our modern lifestyle we lose every day minerals through stress, bad nutrition and environmental toxins.

Tissue salts are homeopathic dilutions of the mineral salts that our cells need to function properly. Although they are not classed as genuine homeopathic preparations, they are offered in low dilutions such as 6X and 12X.

The best tissue salts for colds and flu

The tissue salts trio for prevention and treatment of colds and flu include:

Tissue salt No 3, Ferrum phosphoricum, is indicated for the early stages of a cold, sore throat and stuffy nose. It is also helpful for the beginning of a cough or headache.

Tissue salt No 4, also known as Kalium muriaticum, is the salt of inflammation of mucous membranes. For example, a rhinitis or otitis with whitish color.

Kalium sulphuricum, tissue salt No 6, works best when there is a yellow-greenish discharge with a tendency to purulent sinusitis.

Food sources for the above tissue salts

Tissue salts are found in our food, or should be, when grown organically.

Foods containing Ferrum phosphoricum include spinach, lettuce, radishes, celery, lentils, onions, apples, strawberries and walnuts.

Foods rich in Kalium muriaticum include pineapples, lemons, plums, peaches, apricots, green beans, carrots, cauliflower, beetroot and asparagus.

Foods that contain Kalium sulphuricum include wholegrain bread, rye, oats, linseed, parsley, lettuce, almonds and salmon.

How to take tissue salts?

If you want to take tissue salts, it is not necessary to consult a health practitioner unless conditions are chronic or severe. Tissue salts are safe and effective. They are available in tablet form in most pharmacies or health stores.

  • For prevention of colds and flu: Take 2 or 3 tablets of each salt and let them dissolve in your mouth. For best results use them once daily for a couple of months.
  • For treatment of colds: Dissolve 2 tablets of the tissue salts in your mouth and hourly thereafter until symptoms subside.
